HC Deb 31 May 1965 vol 713 cc142-3W
55. Mr. Lipton

asked the Minister of Health if he will ensure that the containers of all medicines prescribed under the National Health Service shall be labelled with the name of the product.

Mr. K. Robinson

The ruling convention between the medical and pharmaceutical professions is that the pharmacist should not name the medicine unless specifically directed to do so by the pre-scriber. Any change must be a matter for agreement between the professions.
