HC Deb 31 May 1965 vol 713 c143W
56 and 57. Mr. Newens

asked the Minister of Health (1) whether he is satisfied that the regulations prescribing standards for the bacteriological content of ice cream are sufficiently comprehensive to prevent any danger to health; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what efforts are being made to develop a bacteriological test for ice cream which will be sufficiently practicable to be made statutory.

Mr. Loughlin

No bacteriological test suitable for inclusion in regulations has yet been found; but I am advised that the test already recommended to local authorities has proved satisfactory and that ice-cream is a very safe food.
