Mr. Barnett

asked the Minister of Health what is the ratio of dentists to population, respectively, in Heywood, Crampton, Royton, Milnrow, Wardle, Littleborough, and Whitworth; and how this compares with the national average.

The ratios of dentists providing general dental services to population in the towns named are:

Heywood 1 to 6,970
Crompton 1 to 13,970
Royton 1 to 5,180
Milnrow 1 to 8,420
Littleborough 1 to 10,800

There are no dentists providing general dental services in Wardle or Whitworth. People from all these towns also obtain treatment in neighbouring larger towns. The national average at 31st December, 1963, was one dentist to 4,450.
