§ Mr. Warbeyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the text, a copy of which has been sent to him, of the statement of the policy of the Government of the Democratic Republic of 149W Vietnam on a political settlement of the Vietnam problem and the basis for the convening of an international conference of the type of the 1954 Geneva Conference made officially by Prime Minister Pham Van Dong and published by the Vietnam News Agency in Hanoi on 12th April.
§ Mr. M. StewartNo. The statement to which the hon. Member refers was part of a speech by Mr. Pham Van Dong, on 8th April, which seems to have been intended primarily for internal consumption in North Vietnam. If the North Vietnamese had wished to draw my attention to any points, they would presumably have addressed me direct in my capacity as Co-Chairman, or through the Soviet Co-Chairman or through Her Majesty's Consul General in Hanoi.
