HC Deb 04 May 1965 vol 711 c134W
39. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will now say how much additional staff will be required by the Inland Revenue for the purposes of enforcing the capital gains tax and the new corporation tax; and to what extent it will be possible to meet this need by modernisation and automation of Inland Revenue processes.

Mr. MacDermot

I cannot give an estimate. Automation of certain routine clerical processes is planned, but this will be of little help in the field that interested the hon. Member.
