Mr. Martenasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will issue a circular to local planning authorities advising them of the need, when granting planning permission for significant housing development in country villages, to designate a suitable central area as being reserved for the construction of a village hall where none exists.
§ Mr. MacCollThis is a matter for local initiative and local demand, and my right hon. Friend would be reluctant to lay down general rules. But he agrees that the provision of community facilities of this kind are an important feature of village development.
