HC Deb 04 March 1965 vol 707 cc293-4W
85. Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give the number of places in the West Riding Institute of Agriculture which were not taken up, due to lack of residential accommodation, for the years 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965, respectively.

Mr. Prentice

In 1961–62 and the three subsequent sessions this Institute deferred, respectively, 40, 39, 36 and 48 prospective entrants. Those deferred are usually offered places in the following year. The reasons for deferment include the need for prospective students to improve their practical and educational qualifications as well as the limits of residential accommodation.
