§ Mr. Denis HowellA local education authority has no power to provide books or other materials for school libraries in independent schools, but a local authoirty acting as library authority may within its discretion lend books to such schools.
§ 88. Mr. Freesonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will take steps to encourage independent schools to make their laboratory, gymnasia and playing fields facilities available to local authority schools and youth service organisations in need of better provision.
