Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the balance of payments now permits him to assist the man-made fibre industry, and in particular those firms manufacturing in Ulster, by removing the 15 per cent. 204W import duty from acrylonitrile (chapter 29), niax polyol (within 39.19) and polyadipate esters (within 39.01), being material of the description specified in Schedule 2 to the Import Duties (Temporary Exemptions) (No. 8) Order, 1964.

Mr. Chichester-Clarkasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the balance of payments now permits him to assist the man-made fibre industry, and in particular those firms manufacturing in Ulster, by removing the 15 per cent. import duty from 1:6 hexolactam (within 29.37) and nylon 6 polymer (within 30.01) being material of the description specified in Schedule 2 to the Imports Duties (Temporary Exemptions) (No. 8) Order, 1964.
§ 57. Mr. John Hallasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will now remove the 15 per cent. surcharge from pharmaceutical products not manufactured in this country.
§ Mr. Derek Pageasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give priority in relief from the 15 per cent. surcharge to chemicals which are not manufactured in this country.
§ Mr. DiamondNo. We have thought it best to make a substantial cut in the general rate of the charge from 27th April next so that all users of chargeable imported goods will benefit. This will help the man-made fibres industry and the users of other materials referred to in these Questions.
