HC Deb 21 June 1965 vol 714 cc155-6W
Sir I. Orr-Ewing

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that letters posted by racehorse trainers in France have taken over four days to be delivered in this country; and what steps he is taking to improve the delivery in this country of letters posted in France.

Mr. Benn

Yes. I am sorry that in recent weeks delivery of some of the mail from France has been delayed owing

tributing towards some delays in the completion of ships by United Kingdom shipyards. I believe such delays are limited in number. The Government is, however, considering with both sides of the industry what steps are possible to minimise the effect of current delays and to prevent future delays.
