§ Mr. George BrownThe NorthamptonshireEvening Telegraph (16th June) carried a report quoting my hon. Friend as saying that Kettering was one of those towns that had died. The Mayor of Kettering sent me a telegram of protest. My hon. Friend immediately assured the Mayor that he had not used the words attributed to him, and that the report was a deplorable example of irresponsible journalism. The Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph have published on their front page my hon. Friend's reply and a letter from him to the editor.
