asked the Minister of Health how many people, male and female, respectively, living on the Isle of Sheppey, travel to the Medway towns and other places on the mainland to work as a result of losing their jobs on the closure of the naval dockyard at Sheerness; and how many of those are skilled and how many unskilled workers.

The 1961 census showed that 2,280 men and 270 women travelled from the Isle of Sheppey to work in other areas.
