§ Mr. Woodnuttasked the President of the Board of Trade how many new manufacturing firms have been estabished in the Isle of Wight since 1959; how many additional employment opportunities have been created for men and women by the new firms and the expansion of existing organisations; and how many jobs are in prospect for men and women.
§ Mr. JaySince 1959, twelve firms have established new manufacturing units on the Isle of Wight and these, together with the expansion of existing organisations, have provided employment opportunities for 1,230 men and 770 women. It is estimated that there are at present 675 jobs in prospect for men and 230 for women.
