HC Deb 03 June 1965 vol 713 c269W
Mr. J. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proposals the Scottish Ambulance Service has for improving the arrangements to provide assistance with stretcher cases in areas where ambulances are not double-manned.

Mr. Ross

The Scottish Ambulance Service at my request is reviewing arrangements for double-manning of ambulances and also its arrangements for obtaining assistance with stretcher cases in areas where the vehicle is manned only by the driver. In those areas where it is decided ultimately that double-manning would not be practicable I am hopeful that reliable alternative arrangements can be made to ensure that assistance with stretcher cases is readily available. I shall make a further statement when the review is complete.
