HC Deb 03 June 1965 vol 713 c269W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state the services and financial assistance provided for the Scottish fishing industry during each of the last 10 years, the services and financial assistance provided free for Scottish farmers during the same period, and the effects on the prices to the consumers of fish and farm produce, respectively.

Mr. Ross

The services provided by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland for these industries are set out in the Annual Reports "Agriculture in Scotland" and "Fisheries of Scotland" presented to Parliament. Details of the cost of financial assistance are contained in the Civil Appropriation Accounts. In some cases, however, the arrangements are on a United Kingdom or Great Britain basis and a separate Scottish assessment cannot readily be made. It is not possible to assess the effects on consumer prices with any precision.
