§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if she will indicate what steps are being taken to explore the possibility of granting pension rights to elderly people who are not eligible to receive pensions under existing legislation.
§ Miss HerbisonAs my right hon. Friend made clear to the House in the debate last Friday, the Government are working on their plans for providing help to persons of retirement age with low incomes, whether they have title to pensions under existing legislation or not. In the meantime the provision made through National Assistance is being substantially improved.
