HC Deb 09 February 1965 vol 706 c55W
58. Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that outsize envelopes cause the Post Office extra work; and whether he will introduce an extra charge to deter the use of such envelopes for ordinary letters.

Mr. Benn

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes"; as to the second part, I am currently considering how the use of the more conveniently sized envelopes could be encouraged and the hon. Member's suggestion is one which I have very much in mind.
