SoskiceThe number of deaths known to the police in England and Wales from 22nd December, 1964, to 21st January, 1965, and initially recorded as capital and non-capital murders were 4 and 17 respectively; these figures include cases which may be found not to be murder. The corresponding figures for the period 22nd December, 1963, to 21st January, 1964, were 2 and 14. The corresponding average monthly figures for the 12 months ended 21st December. 1964, were approximately 1.3 and 19.
