§ Sir F. SoskiceI do not think that any useful purpose is served by comparing figures for very short periods. But the latest figures available show that in the Metropolitan Police District the number of indictable offences in which firearms were used known to the police in the three weeks after 21st December, 1964, was 18 compared with 29 in the first three weeks of that month. No similar figures are yet available for the whole of England and Wales.
