§ 55. Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, having regard to the unauthorised visit of General Delgado, he will review immigration procedure; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Sir F. SoskiceI informed the hon. Member on 21st January that General Delgado is believed to have made use of an apparently valid passport in another name to effect an unauthorised entry into this country. The difficulty of detecting this kind of deception is obvious, and I do not consider that any special review of procedure is called for.
§ 62. Mr. Michael Footasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the refusal of an entry permit to General Delgado.
§ 68. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what period of time he requires to elapse before breaches of immigration regulations may be set aside; and whether, at the end of such a period, he will 309W reconsider the application by General Delgado for an entry permit.
§ Sir F. SoskiceGeneral Delgado applied in Algiers on 9th January for a visa to visit this country. In view of his action a little earlier in entering this country with false documents I have declined to authorise the grant of the visa. I am not at present prepared to say how soon or in what circumstances I should be willing to reconsider the matter.
