HC Deb 04 February 1965 vol 705 cc317-8W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade what inquiries were made as to the financial soundness of Cadco Developments Limited when they were invited to expand in Glenrothes, Fife.

Mr. Darling

Following the normal practice of the Board of Trade the financial affairs of the company were not investigated until they applied for financial assistance under the Local Employment Acts.

Mr. William Hamilton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the official inquiry into the Cadco affair in Glenrothes will be held in public; and whether a report will be published when the inquiry is completed.

Mr. Darling

The inquiry by the inspectors appointed under Section 165 of the Companies Act to investigate the affairs of three companies in the Cadco group will not be held in public. My right hon. Friend will decide whether to publish the report of the inspectors when he receives it.
