§ Mr. Blenkinsopasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement about the offer to the nation 411W of land in Wasdale, Cumberland, in settlement of death duties.
§ Mr. MacDermotYes. About 1,480 acres of land at Nether Wasdale in the Lake District National Park have been accepted, at a cost to the National Land Fund of £65,000, in part settlement of Estate Duty arising on the death of Major John Basil Wrigley. The land comprises seven farms and substantial woodlands in the Wasdale Valley near Wastwater Lake. It has been transferred to the National Trust.
