§ Mr. Adam Hunterasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has completed his inquiries in respect of the hours for visiting children in Scottish hospitals; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RossYes. The returns received from hospital authorities show that in about 30 per cent. of children's hospitals and units there is visiting for six or more hours daily; in 25 per cent. there is visiting daily but restricted to between two and six hours, and in 45 per cent. visiting is less than daily, or daily for less than two hours. I have asked hospital authorities to review their practice and report to me what arrangements they have made to introduce unrestricted visiting wherever practicable, and daily visiting without exception, in children's units.
