HC Deb 04 August 1965 vol 717 c309W
7. Mr. Miscampbell

asked the Minister of Aviation, in settling the cancellation fee for the TSR2, what steps he took to ensure that adequate rates of severance pay would be awarded by the British Aircraft Corporation in cases of redundancy.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

In telling the House on 6th April of the decision to cancel the TSR2, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence said: "The Government expect their contractors to act as good employers and are willing to bear, through their contracts, a fair share of the burden of severance payments." Our negotiation of cancellation costs with the British Aircraft Corporation is on this basis.
