§ 63. Mr. Ioan L. Evansasked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources if he has now considered the memorandum on National Land Use and the Dartmoor National Park, submitted to him by the Standing Committee on National Parks of the Council for the Preservation of Rural England; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WilleyI have considered the memorandum and I have consulted with my right hon. Friends. I am satisfied that everything possible is being and will be done to reduce to the minimum the military usage of areas on Dartmoor, consistent with the need to provide for the country's defence. My Department will be in close touch with the Defence Departments on this subject, and will be fully consulted if any proposals affecting Dartmoor arise from the current Defence Review.
