HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 cc54-5W
74. Sir W. Teeling

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of a recent fatal accident in Brighton on a zebra crossing, he will make stricter regulations about cars approaching and overtaking near zebra crossings, especially where there are already two lanes of cars approaching the crossing.

Mr. Tom Fraser

The Highway Code advises against overtaking at zebra crossings. Even so I am very conscious of the number of accidents caused by overtaking vehicles and of the need for further measures to prevent them. The problem is already being examined.
