HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 cc61-2W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what tonnage of potatoes was still on farms on 31st March; what percentage this was of the total crop; and what was the similar tonnage and percentage for 31st March, 1964.

Mr. Ross

On the basis of the Potato Marketing Board's census of stocks, at 31st March, 1965, 316,000 tons of potatoes were still on Scottish farms, representing about 23.8 per cent. of the 1964 crop in Scotland. The comparable figures at 31st March, 1964, were 213,000 tons, representing about 19.5 per cent of the 1963 crop.
