HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 c61W
88. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent he estimates the information as to land ownership, contained in Accounts and Papers; Owners of Lands and Heritages, 1872–3 (Scotland) is now inaccurate in so far as the Highland counties are concerned; and whether he will now seek to ascertain and publish up-to-date statistics on this matter.

Mr. Ross

The changes in land ownership during the past 90 years must have been very considerable. A detailed survey would be necessary to obtain the information my hon. Friend is seeking, and I do not feel that the cost involved would he justified.
