asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs why he has altered the wording of British passports issued or received by the Gibraltar Passport Office.

As my right hon. Friend informed the House on 1st March, we took steps to see that the holders of certain passports, the validity of which was not accepted by the Spanish authorities, should be able to obtain new documents. These steps were taken to avoid inconvenience to those British subjects concerned.
