HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 cc123-4W
Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Labour how many firms in the Merseyside development area have taken advantage of the grant of £9 0s. 0d. per week for male trainees over 21 years of age for training lasting 26 to 52 weeks; and how many firms have taken advantage of the one-quarter grant of wage rate for training lasting 26 weeks.

Mr. Marsh

Five firms have applied for grants for the training of 568 males for periods lasting 26 weeks or more. It is expected that most of these trainees will be over 21 years of age but the exact number will not be known until they are actually recruited. Fourteen firms (including four of the five already mentioned) have applied for grants for training lasting less than 26 weeks for some 5,000 workers. All these applications are under consideration.
