HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 c144W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from what specific sources the Livestock Husbandry Group of the National Agricultural Advisory Service obtains its advice in population genetics; and what proportion of the advice comes from institutions sponsored by the Agricultural Research Council.

Mr. John Mackie

The main sources of advisory information on population genetics are the institutions under the charge of the Agricultural Research Council, particularly the Animal Breeding Research Organisation and the Unit of Animal Genetics. Information is also available from universities and commercial bodies, and from research in other countries. It is impossible to say what proportion of advice comes from institutions sponsored by the Agricultural Research Council.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the name and rank of the senior officer in the Livestock Husbandry Group of the National Agricultural Advisory Service who has taken a post-graduate course in population genetics.

Mr. John Mackie

F. J. Fullbrook, B.Sc., N.D.D. The Regional Livestock Husbandry Officer for the South-East Region.
