§ Mr. Bostonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will now make a statement on the proposed Apple and Pear Development Council.
§ Mr. PeartI have told the National Farmers' Union that I should be prepared to seek Parliamentary authority for the establishment under Section 1 of the Industrial Organisation and Development Act, 1947, of a Development Council for the apple and pear growing industry on being satisfied that this is desired by a substantial number of the persons engaged in the industry. Discussions are proceeding on the means of ascertaining the views of individual growers.
