§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the last pit in the community of Kelty in Fife is about to close, and that there is no alternative industry in the area; and what steps he intends to take to remedy this situation.
§ Mr. DarlingThere is alternative industry already established at Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline within reasonable travelling distance from Kelty, and also at Kirkcaldy, which is a little farther. More employment is expected in the Cowdenbeath area generally. My right hon. Friend will encourage industry to develop in these places.
