HC Deb 09 November 1964 vol 701 cc17-8W
68. Sir C. Osborne

asked the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs what discussions the Secretary of State had with the United States Government recently in Washington over the question of British trade with Peking; what information he was given on United States policy towards this trade; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. George Thomson

The Foreign Secretary told Mr. Rusk that my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade would be visiting Peking in fulfilment of an engagement arranged by his predecessor in office. Mr. Rusk did not indicate that there was any change in United States policy towards British trade with China. The question of a statement does not arise.
