HC Deb 04 May 1964 vol 694 cc122-3W
64. Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what contributions Her Majesty's Government made during 1963 to the United Nations, its subsidiary and voluntary funds and specialised agencies, respectively; and what proportions these contributions were of the respective total budgets.

Mr. P. Thomas

I would refer my hon. Friend to the Answer which my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Lancaster (Mr. Berkeley) on 14th January. Unfortunately, the list of our contributions given in that Answer was headed in the OFFICIAL REPORT with a dollar sign. The amounts shown are, in fact, in pounds sterling.

65. Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will table a list of members of the United Nations Organisation in arrears with their apportioned share of the expenses of the Organisation, including in those expenses, as in the opinion of the International Court of Justice, upheld by a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly, they should be included, the expenses of the United Nations Emergency Fund and the United Nations Operations in the Congo; and if he will specify each member the amount of whose arrears equals or exceeds the amount of the contributions due from that member for the preceding two full years.

Mr. P. Thomas

I refer my hon. Friend to the Answer I gave on 13th April to the right hon. and learned Gentleman, the Member for Rowley Regis and Tipton (Mr. A. Henderson).
