HC Deb 04 May 1964 vol 694 c117W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Health what estimates have been made of the extent of the need of an adequate midwifery service during the next 10 years in the areas covered by the new Essex boroughs; and what plans have been made to ensure sufficient recruitment and training to meet that prospective need.

Mr. Braine

Additional midwives are expected to be needed mainly to staff the additional maternity beds that are being provided. Every effort is being made to recruit them.
