asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the deaths per year from cancer of the cervix is in the region of 2,500; and what progress has been made with his proposals for reducing this loss of women's lives.

Yes. Good progress is being, made with plans to make routine screening for cervical cancer available to all women at risk but it will inevitably take time to provide the facilities and trained staff needed for a countrywide service.
