HC Deb 12 March 1964 vol 691 cc87-8W
Q10. Mr. Healey

asked the Prime Minister what consultations he had with President Johnson concerning his proposal for a freeze on the number and type of strategic atomic weapons.

The Prime Minister

My talks with President Johnson were confidential. But as my right hon. Friend the Minister of Defence told the House on 27th February, the United States Government are now working out their plans before discussing them with their North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, and they have given Her Majesty's Government an explicit assurance that nothing in their proposals would inhibit them from honouring their obligations under the Nassau Agreement to supply Polaris missiles.
