HC Deb 04 June 1964 vol 695 cc199-200W
Mr. Hopkins

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what decision he has reached about the future location of the Bristol College of Science and Technology.

Mr. Hogg

The Bristol College of Science and Technology, which is one of the ten colleges of advanced technology destined for university status, must move from its present site and buildings which it shares with the Bristol Technical College. The Governors reported to me last January that they had been considering various sites and had come to the conclusion that the right choice would be to move to Bath, where the Corporation had generously offered to make a site available for future development. After considering all the factors involved, including the strongly expressed preference of the Governors for the Bath site, and after consulting the University Grants Committee, I have endorsed the Governors' decision.
