Mr. J. Wellsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government are taking to meet the need of the Republic of Mali for assistance in developing its water supplies.
§ Mr. MathewHer Majesty's Government have allocated the sum of £ 25,000 for the drilling of several artesian wells, subject to geological survey. This work will be carried out by a British firm. Parliament will in due course be asked to vote the appropriate sum by means of a Supplementary Estimate. In the meantime an advance will be obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund as required.
