§ Mr. E. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what action was taken by the British representative on the Security Council of the United Nations in regard to the unprovoked attacks made by Syrian forces against Israeli police and civilians inside Israel territory between 2nd July and 6th July, 1964.
§ Mr. MathewConflicting accounts of these incidents were contained in letters addressed to the President of the Security Council by the Representatives of Israel and the Syrian Arab Republic, with a request that they be circulated to members of the Security Council. Neither of the representatives requested discussion of the incidents in the Council. The United Kingdom Representative in New York has been in touch with the United Nations authorities on this question, and I understand that the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation has submitted a report on the incidents to the authorities concerned.
