HC Deb 07 July 1964 vol 698 c58W
36. Mr. Parker

asked the Postmaster-General what plans he has to issue a postage stamp to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1965.

Mr. Mawby

We have no such plans.

Our policy is to issue special stamps only to mark current events of outstanding national or international importance and Royal and postal anniversaries and occasions.

To mark other anniversaries in this way would mean a constant stream of special stamps which would, I think, be generally unpopular.
