asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) when he will publish a White Paper on the Government's proposals for compensating the victims of crimes of violence;

(2) why Her Majesty's Government are considering the adoption of an experimental non-statutory scheme for compensating the victims of crimes of violence; and if he will make a statement.

The White Paper will be published as soon as possible, and it will set out, among other things, the Government's reasons for proposing an experimental non-statutory scheme.
