§ 96. Mr. A. Lewisasked the Postmaster-General why he will not take action to enable postage stamps to be sold below the fixed price or given away for retail purchases, in view of the extra revenue which would be received by his Department.
§ Mr. MawbyBecause as the law stands we cannot buy back such stamps and I cannot imagine that in these circumstances the scheme would be attractive to retailers or their customers. In addition we do not think that the use of postage stamps on the lines suggested by the hon. Member would be helpful to the proper distribution of Post Office facilities.
