§ 72. Mr. Milneasked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development if he will introduce legislation to enable the benefits under the Local Employment Act to apply to local authorities.
§ Mr. HeathNo. A local authority carrying on an undertaking which provides employment in a development district is already eligible for assistance under the Local Employment Acts. It would however normally not be appropriate to offer assistance by way of loan since local authorities already have access to the Public Works Loans Board.
