asked the Prime Minister, in view of the commitment of British troops to these countries, what consultations he has had with the Prime Ministers of Tanganyika, Uganda and Kenya regarding joint arrangements to counter Communist subversion in that area.

The Prime Minister

Consultation with the three Governments on security and other matters has been close and continuous in recent weeks. As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations said in the House on 27th January he is proposing to have early consultations with the three East African Governments concerned on the problems of security.
