HC Deb 03 February 1964 vol 688 cc106-7W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what information he has from the United Nations, or otherwise, about the bombing by Egyptian aircraft of an International Red Cross Hospital in Yemen, with the result of its withdrawal to Najran in Saudi Arabia; and whether Her Majesty's Government will endeavour to ensure that medical and other relief is brought to the civilian victims of napalm and high explosive bombing and other warlike operations in Yemen.

Mr. P. Thomas

I have ascertained that no such bombing took place. The hospital has remained unmolested in the Yemen since it was set up in early December. Her Majesty's Government are kept informed of the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross and National Red Cross Societies, including the British Red Cross Society, in relief work in the Yemen. I have no doubt both that they are the best placed to carry out the work and that they are in fact doing everything possible.
