§ Sir F. Markhamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the heavy burdens placed upon ratepayers through the operation of the law by which the venue of the court before which major criminal cases, such as the Buckinghamshire mail train robbery case, are tried determines the local authority which has to bear a major part of the costs of prosecution and of investigation, if he will now seek to amend the law to relieve the burden on ratepayers.
§ Mr. BrookeI am not convinced that there is a case for amendment of the law on this matter.
