HC Deb 21 November 1963 vol 684 cc140-1W
Sir W. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what further progress has been made towards the achievement of a settlement with the Soviet Government on the question of outstanding United Kingdom financial claims which have arisen since 1939, including those relating to the Baltic States.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Her Majesty's Embassy in Moscow recently presented a further list of United Kingdom claims to the Soviet Government. Claims registered under the Foreign Compensation (U.S.S.R.) (Registration) Order, 1959, which have not been included in the six lists of claims so far presented to the Soviet Government are being examined with a view to their presentation to the Soviet Government. The opportunity of registering claims under the Order is being kept open.

We have recently also made proposals to the Soviet Government for dealing with technical problems on the documentation of claims on both sides.
