§ 70. Sir C. Taylorasked the Minister of Education whether, in view of the desirability of fixing the Whitsun bank holiday at the last Sunday in May, and of the moving of the August bank holiday to the Monday following the last Sunday in September in order to encourage staggered holidays, he will arrange for the completion of school examinations before the spring bank holiday, as is already done in Scotland.
§ Mr. ChatawayThe Secondary School Examinations Council will be considering the proposals in the White Paper on Staggered Holidays at their meeting early next month. The suggestion made in the White Paper is that the examinations for the General Certificate of Education should be completed at the latest by the end of June.
